SORIDAW'
SORIDAW' is an interactive site-specific installation by Shahed Naji and Sangwon Nam. It will be exhibited in the Atelier of PalaisPopulaire from July, 1st to July, 6th 2022.
The name SORIDAW' is derived from two words: SORI means “sound” in Korean and DAW' means “light” in Arabic. This name was chosen as Sani (Sangwon Nam) is from Korea and Shahed is Lebanese. This combination brings together both artists and concepts in a unique artistic approach.
The installation is comprised of many systems that function over different interweaving layers of light and sound with the visitor. The systems are connected through sensors which are built especially for the installation. These systems are designed to fit within the room and its architecture, based on measurements related to acoustics and the physical properties of the space.
Shahed Naji is a Lebanese artist based in Berlin. He is working since many years on cresting interactive lightscapes using neon tubes with sensors that function according to people’s movement within a space.
Sani (Sangwon Nam) is a sound artist from South Korea. His work is focused on creating Sonic soundscapes using electronic sound in various ways such as installation, performance and digital media. Using sound in creating progress is the basic conception of his works of art.
