Artist's Talk with Karin Sander
The exhibition Seeing Words, Reading Images unites and connects writing with art. "wordsearch" (2002) was a temporary project by Karin Sander in the public space of New York City. In the stock market section of the New York Times on October 4, 2002, a collection of words was printed, which had been selected by people living in New York with different native languages. The aim was to capture as many languages spoken in New York as possible and translate them into the respective other languages. 218 words in 218 languages resulted in 47,524 words, which were arranged in tables on a total of eight pages. The project was realized as part of the Moment art series of Deutsche Bank. Almost 25 years after its appearance, Karin Sander's translinguistic sculpture is more relevant than ever. We look forward to the conversation with the artist, moderated by Sara Bernshausen, Deputy Director of PalaisPopulaire.
The Artist's Talk takes place as part of the exhibition Seeing Words, Reading Images. The exhibition is open until 7 pm.

Reading: Con/text
Text and form cannot be separated in literature either. Many of the artists featured in the current exhibition Seeing Words, Reading Images — including Etel Adnan, Shilpa Gupta, and Herta Müller — have also produced literary works. In keeping with the exhibition, Katharina von Uslar and Edgar Rai will present literary pieces in which form and content are intertwined in particularly striking ways, including Ruth Herzberg's Frequenzen (2026), Res Sigusch Wesentliche Bedürfnisse (2024), Siri Hustvedt Die gleißende Welt (2014), as well as the new work by Andreas Schröder, Letzter Akt (2026). We are also very pleased to welcome actress Laura Landauer as a reader.
