SundayPopulaire goes green
Free upcycling workshop for families and children 6 and olderPlastic waste is a big problem for our environment. But what should we do with it? Our new workshop series focuses on the topic of sustainability. Together we will look at works from the exhibition The Struggle of Memory that are made of natural and artificial materials and gain inspiration to talk about their meaning and reuse. We'll examine things from everyday life that other people no longer need, talk about their original function, and create useful, fun, or just beautiful objects from them. It would be great if the participants could bring some things from home like empty toilet paper rolls, yogurt pots, etc. that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. Let’s see if they can be turned into art!

SundayPopulaire: Great art
Free sculpture workshop for families and children 5 and olderA large sculpture is enthroned in front of the PalaisPopulaire, a work of art that people can walk around. In the rotunda of the PalaisPopulaire we can look at and—if we are very quiet—even listen to an installation by the artist Anawana Haloba. The two sculptures are made of very different materials and created using different techniques. What could these be? How heavy are the sculptures? How and why did they come to this place? We will find answers to these questions together. Weather permitting, we will then create small sculptures ourselves out of different materials on the terrace of the PalaisPopulaire.

SundayPopulaire: "The Color of Lemons" by Kenesha Sneed
free book presentation and workshop for families and children 5-8 years oldBased on the exhibition “The Struggle of Memory,” which is about remembering and telling stories, we will read The Color of Lemons, the debut picture book by African-American artist Kenesha Sneed. It tells the story of little Eisha, who makes a mold out of clay in the studio of her mother, who is a ceramic artist. The yellow mold makes Eisha especially happy because it reminds her of last summer when she picked lemons with her dad. Suddenly, the mold falls to the ground and shatters into pieces. Kenesha Sneed tells us a story about sadness, loss, and farewell, but also about the power of memory and creativity, which we will then demonstrate ourselves in a workshop.
