SundayPopulaire: Aladag Activation
It is Gallery Weekend in Berlin. All over the city, there is art to discover, and many people visit one gallery after another.
We are showing and presenting a special artwork by the artist Nevin Aladag this weekend: a large metal sculpture, the "Public Resonator." A resonator helps to make the sound stronger and clearer, like the wooden body of a guitar, which then produces the tone. At first glance, the sculpture rests completely still. When we get closer and touch it, it changes and produces different sounds.
Is it possible to learn something and have fun at the same time? Today you will experience exactly that through this fantastic sculpture. You only need to sharpen your eyes, hands, and ears.

SundayPopulaire: BookArt
A puma quietly creeps into the day. Line by line, sentence by sentence, it comes to light. emerges from the picture and brings a little story with it… In a very special interplay between text and image, Lena Raubaum and Verena Pavoni tell stories of five animals, of sudden strength and courage, of creativity and precise perception. As part of the exhibition Seeing Words, Reading Images, we delve into this exciting interplay and discover the book in a mix of picture cinema and interactive reading. In the subsequent workshop, we create our own images using the mysterious sgraffito technique and invent suitable words to accompany them.
In cooperation with the bookshop Krumulus.

SundayPopulaire: Reading Pictures!
Normally, we see words in books and texts, with images, we look at color, people, or objects. However, in our exhibition we try something new: we look at signs and symbols and read images. Artworks can be "read" to discover hidden signs and symbols within them.
Art can show us where people come from and how they are connected to each other. The artist Shirin Neshat asks exciting questions like: Who are you? How did you get here? In her photographic works, she combines powerful images with emotional texts.
But how do you actually understand pictures? Why can they say so much, even without words?

SundayPopulaire: Calligraphy on Sunday
Calligraphy means "beautiful writing": letters are designed with particular care and artistry, almost like small drawings. They look different from those in printed books or on a computer.
For the artist Etel Adnan, writing and art are closely intertwined. She often placed words, symbols, or short texts on paper like pictures. For her, it's not just about what the words mean, but also about how they look. One can read and view her works. Writing is not just for reading: it can also be something to admire like a picture: words can look like shapes or patterns.
What would it look like to you? This Sunday, discover your own creative writing style!
